CLEANING AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS

HOW TO CLEAN A WOODEN BOWL AND A WOOD CUTTING BOARD

With proper cleaning and care, your finely crafted Andrew Pearce wood product will last a lifetime—and beyond.

DO

  • Hand wash with warm soapy water, and dry with a clean cloth.
    Oil your product after the first wash.
  • Apply Andrew Pearce Refined Walnut Wood Oil one tablespoon at a time, and work into the wood with a soft clean cloth. Cover the inside, outside, and edges of the product. Add more oil slowly until you reach your desired shine.
  • Allow our Refined Walnut Wood Oil to cure at least six hours before next use. Avoid contact with other objects during this time as the oil may transfer.
  • Recondition your wood product with our Refined Walnut Wood Oil at least every 6 months, and whenever the wood looks dull or feels rough.
  • Recondition more frequently during dryer months and in arid climates.
  • Hand-dry boards and place them in a drying rack so air can reach both sides of the board. Do not store damp boards directly on a countertop or in a cupboard.

DON'T

  • Put wooden products in the dishwasher, microwave, or oven.
  • Leave wooden products in standing water or filled with water.
  • Store damp boards directly on a countertop or in a cupboard.
  • Let wood completely dry out; regular oiling is essential.
  • Use vegetable or olive oils to recondition your wood product; they may encourage bacteria growth.
  • Use mineral oil or wax on our products as they are not absorbed into the wood; unlike our Refined Walnut Wood Oil.
  • Leave fruits or vegetables to rot in the bottom of your bowl as this could cause discoloration or staining.
  • Use cherry wood bowls and boards with cut strawberries or beets; they may stain the wood.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR SIMON PEARCE GLASS:

"Our lead-free glassware is dishwasher safe, although hand washing is recommended. Avoid cleaners that contain citrus, as it may damage the glass and potentially cause cloudiness. Extreme changes in temperature may cause our glass to crack. We suggest you not use glass in the microwave or place in the refrigerator or freezer to chill. Boiling hot liquids should never be poured into any handled glass. When pouring hot liquids into any other glass, place a metal spoon in the container before pouring." (Taken from simonpearce.com).
