HEIRLOOMS OF WOODEN ART

One of a kind Burl Bowls

Possibly the most unique wooden art form is that of a Burl. Woodworkers skillfully sculpt each burl to reveal nature’s fingerprint. Each burl is a one-of-a-kind treasure that deserves patience, focused attention, and a delicate hand.

What Is a Burl? The Natural Origin of Our One-of-a-Kind Burl Bowls

A burl is a rounded growth on a tree’s trunk or branch, where the grain grows in a tight, irregular pattern. The wood inside holds swirls, ripples, and small dark “eyes” that ordinary lumber rarely shows, and no two burls grow alike. Our woodworkers turn and finish-sand each one with patience and a delicate hand, revealing nature’s fingerprint in a bowl that is also wooden art. For collectors of natural beauty and skilled handwork, it is a piece all its own. Visit our Burl Gallery in Hartland, VT or shop our burls online.
