How do I clean and maintain Andrew Pearce Wood?
Hand-wash with warm, soapy water and dry immediately with a soft cloth. Store your wood product on its edge or in a rack to allow for even airflow on both sides. When the wood begins to look dull or feel dry, apply a light coat of our Refined Walnut Wood Oil, let it penetrate for a few minutes, then buff away the excess and allow to dry for at least six hours before use.
Can I use soap to wash Andrew Pearce wood products?
Yes. A small amount of mild dish soap and warm water is perfectly safe. Wash gently, rinse quickly, and dry right away. Never leave it soaking in the sink or resting on a wet surface, as prolonged exposure to water can cause the wood to swell and crack over time.
Why can't Andrew Pearce wood products and Simon Pearce glass go in the dishwasher?
Both wood and handblown glass are natural materials that require gentle care. The extreme heat and high-pressure water of a dishwasher will strip the wood of its protective oil, causing the fibers to swell, warp, and eventually crack. That same heat can damage the delicate integrity of handblown glass. Hand-washing is the only way to protect both pieces and ensure they remain heirlooms for a lifetime.
What is the best oil for conditioning Andrew Pearce woodenware?
We recommend our Refined Walnut Wood Oil, a premium, non-toxic, food-safe finish made specifically for fine woodenware.
